Shuriken Guitars is a brand and global trademark completely independent to Line 6/Yamaha. Shuriken VARIAX is a model of Variax made by Line 6/Yamaha licensing the Shuriken Guitars design. The easy way to look at it is anything with VARIAX technology is controlled, maintained and operated by Line 6/Yamaha.
I used to think raisins were their own thing until I found out they’re just dried grapes. If Stevic was going to have a signature guitar it would, a.) be a guitar with Stevic's signature on it, and b.) it would be named after Stevic... Stevic, Bruce Wayne or Victor Newman...
S stands for Shuriken. The original working title for the first Shuriken shape and the matte black colour scheme was “Raven”. Raven’s are very symbolic across multiple cultures throughout history, appearing in many myths and legends. It’s argued that the raven gained it’s mythical status because it feeds on the dead, hence, perceived as the mediator between life and death. The recurrent depiction of Raven’s is often associated with the end of one thing and the beginning of another. This seemed appropriate for Shuriken Guitars.
Covid has really messed things up in the guitar world in a hydra of component scarcity (from manufacturing restrictions and/or brands stockpiling parts), and there’s a backlog of orders manufacturers can barely keep up with. I’ve been told things will start returning to “normal” by March 2022. In the meantime; I’m always investigating alternative options and remain committed to get these guitars in players hands. No. There are two primary ways mad dogs receive endorsements:
I’d love to make left handed guitars. Once manufacturing returns to some kind of post covid normalcy, and there’s enough left handed guitarists to satisfy the MOQ for manufacturing; there’s no reason I can think of NOT to make a left handed Shuriken Guitar model!
That’s a question for Line 6/Yamaha.
100%. I would really like to evolve my approach to guitar with modelling technology.
